PROOF Rewards Moonbirds Community With ‘Diamond Exhibition’ NFTs

As the bear market conditions continue to sweep across the Web3 space, the need for ingenuity, innovation, and future-proof planning has never been so paramount.

With the indiscriminate nature of the crypto winter, even projects of the Blue-Chip variety have felt the brunt of floor price plummets and a lack of bullishness, which is why many are turning to new branding and operational directions in order to ward-off any feelings of community FUD.

As news from recent weeks has showcased, Doodles has perhaps made the most outlandish move thus far, as last month saw the project’s Co-Founder state that it’s ’no longer an NFT project’.

On the contrary- and in getting onto the premise of this article- fellow Blue-Chip innovator ‘Moonbirds’ has opted to add even more NFTs into proceedings, as per announcements from its creator ‘PROOF’ over the past week, the project’s second derivative NFT collection is gearing up for launch.

Introducing the ‘Moonbirds: Diamond Exhibition’ NFT Collection

The ‘Moonbirds: Diamond Exhibition’ NFT Collection was announced by PROOF in the latter stages of last week, and since, it’s lay alongside the likes of NFT.NYC and Yuga Labs’ ‘Otherside’ metaverse as the space’s key talking points this week.

Getting into the details, the collection will consist of 10,000 assets, with the artworks at hand being crafted by an impressive cohort of 22 digital artists- including Beeple, Daniel Isles (a.k.a. Dirty Robot), Terrell Jones, Summer Wagner, Micheal Sidofsky, the Co-Founder of PROOF, Justin Mezzell, and more.

What makes this drop special is the fact that Moonbirds holders who’ve excelled in the project’s ’nesting’ reward system will be the ones to receive one of the NFTs, as eligible candidates for a ‘Diamond Exhibition’ are those with staked Moonbirds NFTs with ‘Diamond Nest’ status (hence the collection’s name).

As the name (slightly) suggests, ‘Day 1 Diamond Nesters’ are those who staked their Moonbirds NFT in the first week in which the project’s ‘nesting program’ launched.

Here, ‘nesting’ is essentially a ‘soft staking’ mechanism wherein collectors lock-up their NFT without transferring it out of their wallet. There are different ‘tiers’ in which holders can achieve through holding their Moonbirds NFTs over time, with each offering particular benefits and perks as a reward. As intuition would suggest here, ‘Diamond’ is the best tier in which a holder can achieve.

Such system is of course centred around holder’s loyalty to the project, which is why once a Moonbirds NFT is listed or sold, new owners have to start from scratch -a.k.a start with a ‘straw nest’.

On April 18th (Tuesday of next week), ‘Day 1 Diamond Nesters’ will be airdropped a ‘Choice Pass,’ which will further allow them to rank the 22 artists in order of preference.

After ranking the artists within the April 24-27 window, PROOF will then use a raffle system- which has been made in conjunction with participant’s rankings- to determine how the NFTs will be distributed to participants.

On the same day (April 27), the 10,000 assets will then be airdropped to their rightful owners, which will essentially indicate the genesis of a new Moonbirds-inspired NFT trading network across secondary marketplaces.

PROOF is also in attendance at NFT.NYC, where in addition to introducing the 12 generative artists of the ‘Diamond Exhibition’ collection, it also hosted a ‘BEEPLE x PROOF’ activation which saw the esteemed artist draw one of his ‘Diamond Exhibition’ pieces in-person. For many, this would’ve been the first time in which they set eyes on the collection’s artwork.

Further, PROOF and Moonbirds have heightened the speculation behind the project by teasing a picture of a nesting egg that’s accompanied with the following tagline:

“You can tell a lot about someone from the nest they keep. Diamond Nests indicate high levels of commitment and care, which can make them the perfect home for some very interesting contents… Feather your nest: Mythic Eggs Claim starts April 17”.

Whilst we can almost certainly assume that such passage relates to the ‘Diamond Exhibition’ collection, its use of the word ‘Mythic’ is rather interesting, as ‘Moonbirds Mythics’ was rumoured to be another in-development collection of the Moonbirds ecosystem.

In turn, if such collections are linked- i.e., ‘Diamond Exhibition’ is in-fact a reinvention of the never-launched ‘Mythics’ collection- we could perhaps assume that the collection will adopt a smooth, cartoon-like aesthetic that goes against Moonbirds’ traditional pixelated look… Why? Because this is what PROOF unveiled when teasing the ‘Mythics’ project back in August 2022.

For those wanting to keep up to date with the project and its unfolding developments, Moonbirds will be hosting Twitter Spaces and Discord chats over the next couple of weeks (which will include insight from the artists behind the assets).
